I read an article about the UK and other major countries not sending troops into Darfur and I was wondering why this was. Also, I wanted to know about the conflicts going on in the UK right now. Thank you very much!

There is no oil there and no visible economic resource to justify the cost of direct military action. Its the same reason why the European Union took so long to take decisive action in the former Balkan states (Kosovo, Bosnia, Serbia, etc, etc). Sadly most Western governments do not see the abuse of fundamental human rights as a justifiable reason to protect the oppressed and downtrodden with military intervention. Furthermore, most European nations these days are sensitive to the accusation from Third World nations that we are attempting to re-gain our former colonies at the cost of their independence.
