Once they get back into the population, wouldn't it benefit everyone if these people could find gainful employment? So they don't end up doing the things they did to get to prison in the first place.....

It would be very productive to make prisons functional societies instead of holding cells. Giving inmates trade skills, life skills, purpose and support will help their chances of getting out and staying out. You will always have the people who are just too into it to stay out of trouble, and those who have become instutionalize and want to go back to prison. But for the many who want to try, we should give the best try possible. For all of society.

Yes. If we don't give them a fighting chance to do right the second time around, it guarantees they will do wrong again. Some felons might abuse this chance, but we have to give it to them anyway.

How about we just don't let them back into the population.
