She always has plus sized models on her show and is saying how she thinks big is beautiful, so why does she feel the need to fire back at the media and come out in her bathing suit and say its only 10 pounds....its only 10 pounds!

I am not Tyra, so I can't say personally, but I think that it is absolutely wonderful that she is doing this. I mean, it is only 10 pounds and Tyra is gorgeous-but the media should just drop it. I think that she is doing it because she's trying to show that people do gain weight, and that she is okay with her weight gain. And having plus sized models on her show and saying that stuff isn't enough if you don't live it too. Also, why would you care so much?

I personally don't care either way, but Tyra's weight gain is really nobody's business, especially since she's retired from modeling.
While I do agree with the other posters that the content of her show is tabloidal, and her over-eager attempts to prove that she's not obese is a bit hypocritical in light of her "thick is beautiful" platitudes, I think she looks better now than she did when she was modeling. I think this is her "natural weight" (i.e, if she never became a model and didn't have to diet like crazy and work with top-hollywood personal trainers and instead lived like an average joe all these years, she would have had her current body a lot longer)

Probably because during her modeling career she had to be this little bitty stick person and now she's let herself gain a few pounds.
I haven't seen her talk to the media lately, but by watching her show, I have to assume that she's saying "it's only 10 pounds" not because she's ashamed about her weight gain, but to let them know that there's absolutely nothing with being bigger and gaining weight.

Actually man the media put her on a magazine saying she Gained 40 lbs she was clarifing that it's really 10 lbs instead of 40 lbs.
She looks good to me though. I like a nice tall thick woman.

She got called out for being "fat" which she isn't. She is not a tiny little waif. I think she looks good. I hate that big robust women are called fat.
She got angry that people were so shallow that they called her fat. She isn't a super model anymore so if she porked up to 300 pounds, that is her perogative. Besides she is almost 6 feet tall and 160 pounds is a really good weight for someone that tall.

She is defending the fact that it is ok to be who you are no matter what weight you are. She is not defending the fact that she gained 10 pounds, she is defending the fact that it is no bodies business if she gained 10 pounds. Good for Her!

Because the media made SUCH a huge focus on it. who cares if she gained weight. But they did lie and say 40 and altered the picture as they do with everything.
Her point is Why are they allowed to that? why are they allowed to hurt people and lie?

I don't really know what's going on in that crazy woman's mind. One minute she tries to act compassionate about how people view overweight people in society and the next she is flaunting her body in front of everyone to show that she is not overweight as if she were ashamed of being called "overweight". So what message is she trying to send here?
