Anytime a girl likes me I'm pretty shocked and wonder what I did right. But in general, it's probably biology and chemistry-- the need to procreate and be intimate that makes boys and girls like each other. But on a more aware level, my guess is that a big reason we like each other is because we're bombarded with songs, movies, stories, and day-to-day experiences that tell us that we're supposed to be in love and dating and with someone. We would probably still find people attractive if we lived in caves with no input like that, but it wouldn't be on our mind all the time like it is now.
