They are usually based on people's real life experiences. Only a fool would ignore them. The stereotype that stereotypes are false is far more broad that any other stereotype. As a result, they are susceptible to far greater errors.

Hate them, but guess they've been a part of our culture forever.
I am a firm believer that you can't judge a book by it's cover. It's a life lesson that I learned a long time ago.
