You use more calories when you are breast feeding so provided you don't increase you food consumption as well then you may lose weight as a result but breast feeding alone isn't the solution. Your baby is still very young so the weight is likely to go off in the next few months on it's own. Try and make sure that you drink a minimum of 1.5 litres of water and eat at least half a kilo of fruit and veg every day. Try and do some light exercise every day. And you should find the weight goes on it's own. If it doesn't check out weight watchers. It's by far the easiest way to permenant weight loss.

Breast feeding will help with the weight loss, but you won't lose large amounts of weight. Your body need extra calories so you can produce the breast milk. You also gave birth a little more than eight weeks ago. It took 9 months to gain the weight, soooo don't be so hard on yourself!!!!!!!! I would not consider any diet or weight loss program with out talking to a doctor first. I have four kids, I breast fed them all. Sure I don't look the same way I did when I was single. Some of the weight may be permanent. When you decide to stop breastfeeding, you can be more aggressive about diet and exercise. Please try and nurse for the first year. Breast fed babies are the best fed babies!!!!! Good luck!!!!!

Be patient... I know how you feel. I was 125lbs before I had my daughter and go up to 162lbs. At my six week checkup I was 146lbs. At ten weeks when I returned to work I still could not get into my clothing. Well I am happy to say my daughter is 14 weeks now and I can get into my old pants with and there is a little sag around the buttox. My shirts are a differnt story. I gave up on getting into most of my shirts with my new breasts. lol I too was worried and I am breastfeeding. The pounds just dropped within the last 2 weeks. Even my coworker made a comment on how well I am losing the weight. I do go skating once a week and did one workout video 2 weeks ago for 40 minutes. Not much exercise. I did find that while I was at home on leave I ate all day. I since then contolled my eating habits and my body is getting back to normal. Give you body time to heal on its on. If you must do light exercises. This will give you a burst of energy and drink plenty of fluids. good luck.

It's only been 2 and a half months since you baby was born. You still have plenty of time to lose weight. You are not supposed to lose weight too quickly if you are breastfeeding because it can be bad for your milk supply.
When i got pregnant, I weighed 147 (still too much for me, but oh well). The day I delivered my daughter, I weighed 192 lbs. I gained 45 lbs!
Now, my daughter is 5 and a half months old. I've lost ALL the weight I gained and even more. I still want to lose at least another 20 pounds. Breastfeeding AND exercise has helped me to lose over 50 pounds!
Just be patient, your weight will come off.

Breast feeding does help alot, however you need to start a workout. I didnt and when I stopped breastfeeding I gained the weight back. I am now working out, but its been 9 months later and its hard to do. Just remember it took 9 months to gain that weight its not going to be overnight to take it off.

Let me say that I was a nursing mom ( stopped 1 month ago) i didn't loose weight as fast as I did when I did not nurse! I heard so much hoopla about how if you nurse the weight just "falls off" BS!! i have about 7 friends who also found it harder to loose weight when they decided to nurse. I do not regret nursing , I would do it again in a heartbeat, please know that it is not true for all women. I have two girls, with my first I lost the weight in three months with barley no effort. My daughter is 11 months old, I stopped nursing a month ago, and still have 10-15 pounds to loose from my pregnancy. It seems like I crave calories when I nursed.... not sure what it was but it was???

keep breast feeding by all means...I gained 80 lbs. with both my kids and the breast feeding made the weight drip off, really. I weighed 120 each time I got pregnant and weighed in at 200 upon delivery...you will get there, keep plugging...(probably 40 of those pounds are boobs!!)...
Once this kid gets moving, you will have trouble keeping weight on, try to enjoy this time without the stress of worrying about your weight, you will lose it, really.

I would say that it depends on the person. My sister lost ALOT of weight after she had my niece. She believes it had alot to do with breastfeeding. My niece was only 2 months old and strangers wouldn't believe that my sister was ever pregnant. Her stomach was flat as a pancake and she was back to her normal weight. Try to change your diet, if possible. Watch what you eat and drink alot of water. Also, after dinner, she would go for a walk. This really helped her get back into shape.

it took me till the third or fourth baby to do well at that whole weight gain thing..even then? I sucked.. I just enjoy chocolate waaay too much I think...lol...
I was 110 (skinny!) when I found out I was prengant the first time... I was 196 when she was born... I was 207 at her second month check up..... it sucked! took four years to lose the weight.... my metabolism had decreased though from my age at the time 22y to that of a 55-60yr....due to bedrest (preterm labor) and the medicine they use.... side effect of it.. when that was finally determined, I was able to drop my weight more effectively...
I breast fed... for most it does help in regaining that figure..but not always... I grilled my dr. when I saw I wasn't... he said the same.. hey.. some women lose it faster... but those same ones? are out there working at it too.... never expect it to be the way it used to be though.. hips, chest.. even abdomen they have now been changed (for the better) forever....
increase your acitivty, jumpstart the metabolism.... especially if you "lazed" around a bit more your last few weeks/months of pregnacy....
increase those "healthy choices" and much as we hate to... avoid the junk...
it was recently proven a breastfeeding mom does not need to take in any extra calories, like they used to say.... but does need to drink extra water (no calories!)
don't look for it to melt away suddenly... lol.. I doubt anyone else is like that... but for some reason I thought I would have this baby and then within a month my body would all those changes in reverse.. and on it's own... nope.. I had to..... I know.. I am and always was/will be.. naive! lol... :)
it is a slow going thing... your body just went thru changes and growth that took it ten months to get to... give yourself and body time to get back to where you want to be... just stick to the healthy low cal/fat (within reason) and exercise.... get your rest.. drink extra water....! play with baby.... :) and before you know it... you will see changes....
just don't get discouraged... btw.. I did manage to drop almost all mine.. each baby.... :) back to 134lb.... it just takes time, effort... and the right choices for food.... drink...
goodluck... hope this helps...
