Since you are interested in alternative medicine. try tincture of myrrh. Check with your local herb shop. But my suggestion is 10-15 drops in a cup of warm water & gargle. Herbalist in Europe have been using this remedy for years. It is an anti-septic and stimulates the production of infection fighting white blood cells. Hope things work out for you

Go to the health food store and get slippery elm bark for the throat ... swear to God it works. Get some Echinacea to knock out the fever and the cold bugs. Also, Golden Seal (it will raise your blood pressure so don;t do it if you take high blood pressure meds or have Hi BP). Vitamin A no more than 40,000 units unless you take it as Beta Carotene and then you can take more (no limit I believe but check with a nutritionist at Whole Foods or some big store). There's also a throat spray you can get to help soothe and numb your throat. You need to get that under control. Not to scare but think of what happens if your throat swells shut. From here on take 2,000 mg / day of Vitamin D as well to guard against the N1 flu virus and get at least 15 minutes of sun direct to your face each day, since Vitamin D is absorbed by glands below the eyes. I put an article in the Source section that talks about Dr Cannell at Atascadero Hospital keeping his patients from getting the flu. It should also help a bit with your cold as well. It's not cheap ($15-30 per small bottle) but you only need about 7 drops per 4 hours. Get ATLANTIC BRAND (only) of Oregano Oil. It may sting a tad at first but it will clear your throat mega quick. It's great for knocking out viruses. If you can get ALL of this you will be over this thing by mid-week or next Friday latest. There's more too but this should knock it out. Email if you need to go totally ape on it and I'll give you the rest but the above should make it beg for mercy and run from you super fast. Peace I AM Dartagnon

I think you should try using any gargle like Listerine found at your nearest pharmacy store. If that doesn't work then try this. The best natural remedy for sore throats is powdered ginger.Ginger contains a very powerful phenolic compound called "gingerol" which has a very powerful antiseptic effect on the throat. To prepare the ginger drink basically boil the powder with water for a couple of minutes then cool and drink while warm.I guarantee you that this will do the job

The old remedy for a sore throat, was to mix 1 teaspoon of salt to 8 oz of warm water. Gargle with this solution throughout the day, and by tomorrow you should feel a bit better. Get well soon .... :)

Along with gargling the salt water, drink some hot tea with 1/4 tsp of ground ginger in it. That helps with a sore throat for me.

Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html

Onion (soup) is in the garlic family and has lots of curative stuff in it. If the cause is not a cold or something like that it may be muscles and the best way to convey the way to take care of the cause (if that is it) is to tell you about a book called The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies.

The only one that I use is Echinacea Angustifolia Tincture, one teaspoon and wow, your worries are over, because it kills whatever shouldn't be there on contact. Just let it go down the throat ever so slowly. If you cannot afford that you could always try gargling with salt water, but it is not as effective.

Your should go to a doctor
You could have strep throat which is not only contagious
but left unchecked can cause shock, multisystem organ failure, and death.
Gargling with warm saltwater (1/4 teaspoon of table salt in 8 oz. warm water) can help relieve throat pain.

sounds like strep throat means you should see the doctor, salt in warm water rinse can help, also if you got other sympoms? chest then boil eucalyptus and smell the steam for 3 min 3 times a day. it will clear that part up-but strep throat if very dangerous to not have professionally treated-hard candy will keep it moist if that is a problem. in amazing grace with thanks, David
