Actually the popularity of blonde hair is dying. The reason it was so popular to begin with is because before dyes were invented, blonde hair was rare. Men were attracted to blondes because it was something different and they wanted to pass the gene on to their children. Now it is so common and there have been so many dumb blonde stereotypes since the days of Marilyn Monroe that it's not as popular in recent polls. Most men now, by a slim margin, prefer brunettes, then blonde, and then redheads. My sister is redheaded (naturally), and it seems like the men that like her seem to have a fetish for redheads to begin with. It's all genes, fashion, and passing fads.
Another thing I wanna add is that most women don't look good with dyed blonde hair. It washes the face out and gives them a ruddy appearance. Just a suggestion in case anybody wanted to dye their hair blonde.

You know the concept, Dumb Blonde! What man wants a woman smarter then himself and many men follow that rule.. if a man is smarter then he can rule the roost. Men also seem to find beauty in blonde's. But as in all scenarios the rule is often broken. Not all blonde's are Dumb! Not all Blonde's are beautiful.
Dark hair and dark skin etc can be beautiful . Howrah to the man that can see through the myth!

I' don't know,
I am a natural blond, but died my hair black JUST so I didn't have to look like every other bimbo Paris Hilton type.
I quess preconcieved notions with society has placed blonds in the ditz catagory and a guy would rather be with a girl that doesn't challenge their male ego rather than an independant successfull woman.
Blond hair isn't so bad, it's when girls BLEACH their hair and then act like the sterio types that REALLY pisses me off

Its not, however its part of our heritage. My own ancestors were Irish, French and German and there is blond, red and very dark brown hair in our family. My fathers family came from the south of France well before the Revolutionary war, we are olive skinned, green eyed and have very very dark brown hair. My mothers family is German, been here about a hundred years and they are blue eyed and blond and auburn haired with brown eyes.
I personally love blond hair but not on me.

I blame Barbie. Heh, seriously, though, blonde hair is probably popular because it is bright. Bright things are often referred to as "pure" and "untainted".
