Get a bucket and put sunflower seeds (hamsters love them) in the bucket. Put the bucket on the floor and make a little ramp for him to be able to get in. Once he's inside he can't get out, so you have to check the bucket regularly. Make sure the bucket is deep enough so he can't climb out on his own. It works for us.

The hamster couldn't have run out far. Search the room where it was lost. Search the entire floor area, especially in corners and under furniture. It probably wont be able to climb up high too.
If that doesn't work. You could try leaving some food around. Then check and see if the food was touched. And search in that area. Otherwise, you can trap it using the bucket method. Put a ramp (by stacking books, boxes, etc). Leave a trail of food up the ramp. Once it falls into the bucket, it wont be able to jump out.
Alternatively, you can get a very playful/curious dog. See if it is suddenly interested in any corners of your house.
Good luck

Draw it out with food. Cheese isn't the best thing for a hamster, but they can pick up the smell and come out to get it. I've personally scooped ours up in a shoe since I'm a bit squeamish about holding her. Otherwise, have the kids grab it!
Not to "knock" anyone's answer, but our hamster climbs! We have seen her many times hanging by her "hands" from the top of her cage. Maybe she's just a crackhead... (the hamster, not the other person who answered!)

This can be a challenge because they are small and they tend to be night creatures. Try putting out a little food somewhere where you can watch for them. Eventually the hamster may get hungry and come to eat. Then you can grab him or her. Good luck.

back when i was little, mine got out. They usually hide under something where its dark. we tried all kinds of treats and food. The thing that got her out though was peanut butter. The most important thing is patience. Check with a flash light all over the house, make sure none of the doors get opened, you should find it eventually

hahaha I've lost my hamsters quite a few times before! (We always found them though!) We found one in the back of my brother's closet...Sleeping in a blanket! haha I would put some hamster food out randomly on the floor of the house, and check in small areas and under beds and furniture. Good luck!!!
P.S. Be careful where you walk... Watch where your going.

When our hamster got out ( in the middle of the night) It came in my room and got on my bed (which laid on the floor) and brushed against my cheek. For you just look in every hole in the house.
