If anyone is truly wise, would they, ultimately, join a side of good or evil or just observe?... Would they apply their wisdom to helping a war or to ending it, depending on whether or not they were wise?

Thanks, for answering in advance!;)

A wise person would have prevented it in the first place.

A wise person wont interfere in a situation without knowing all the facts because depending of the side you take the other side look darker! the wise will try to find the Right balance between good and evil!

a good quote on wisdom is this: a wise remains unmoved through the good and the bad.

I think if he is capable of helping, and helping does not incriminate or hurt the cause of peace, the wise man would help the side of good.

As strange as it seems, a wise man basically just watches. Some people might say that he is doing nothing, but if you observe two people arguing with each other, the one problem that both of them have usually is the inability to let the other one talk. The wise man makes it a note to stay silent and allow others to speak his or her mind.

Wisdom is the ability to apply knowledge in such a way as to bring about a right conclusion. A right conclusion (in my opinion) is defined by God's eternal principles (found in His Word). So applying this to war - should we do nothing and allow the consequences of our "doing nothing" just happen? Is this wise? Knowing that it means our own domination & destruction by others, and the downfall of the ultimate safety and freedom of the citizens that the war is about - would you say that "doing nothing" is wise? The correct application of knowledge (the definition of wisdom) as applied to war - evil must be resisted at all costs or it spreads and destroys all that is good. Preserve the good - remove the evil --- that is wisdom.

I am sorry to tell you that this shouldn't have been a question even. In philo there is wisdom ,when we already know that the mind has already presented the intellect the pros and cons of a certain issue. The intellect would then have made a choice. Being wise is choosing to do what is right above that is what is wrong morally, socially, politically etc.. The free will then would have implemented that what is right(e.g. end the war).

I have to agree with Julian there. For if there is agreement there's no need for wisdom as any matter is resolved and acted upon accordingly, but if there's disagreement and you take sides then you would also disagree with the other side and wouldn't resolve anything thereby. The situation could actually get worse, because now there would be 2 against 1. In other words, two people disagree and you join one side, you'll only make it worse, even if you think you're on the "right" side....Because... What if you're the one on the "wrong" side?

Wise men adopt a philosophy good for mankind. They would choose good because reason would demand it. There belief system would dictate there actions, unfortunately it is belief systems which America is currently fighting. Evil people attacked this country on 9 11 killing innocent people. If the good does nothing then evil will win. This is why good and wise men fight wars. They fight to be free.

A truly wise person knows that good and evil do not exist of themselves but are subjective. A truly wise knows they cannot see all sides of a question or answer.

I agree with WD but alot of others made sense as well, such as did Amp and Julian. I would add that when a wise person feels it's his calling to go then he would join in the best way he thinks best to serve in the fight. It may not be militarily, but politically, economically, religiously etc.

Passive Resistance was used by Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. to influence their countries for the betterment of the citizens within and without to the world at large. Mother Theresa gave warmth to the forgotten with a simple life of love by hugging and caring for those with sicknesses such as leprosy. She loved the unlovable among us. That too is a war.

And then of course there was Jesus Christ whose mission was not to fight against any political or religious governments that had earthly boundaries. But to fight true evil, lies, fear, and despair by showing how God's kingdom could be lived inside each heart. And by his spirit we can fight even using our own weaknesses to conquer evil with goodness, lies with truth, fear with love. and despair with hope.
