I turned on my computer twice and the same thing has happened. Once it has loaded up I get a serious message saying the computer has some kind of serious error and needs to be restarted and a one minute timer begins. I then have little time to do anything before the computer turns off again.

This problem began when I was looking at my Temporary Internet Files. I went to delete them - thought this was a good thing. Then, after a minute or so of deleting files the error message came up.

Now have totally disconnected internet and tried to turn on computer again - seems to be fine (for the past few minutes.)

Now running a virus scan and am a lot less worried now than when I started writing this question (phew!). Any advice now?

Could it be the Internet that's broken?

Right, had a look at the thing and it says the following:

C://WINDOWS//system//32//services.exe terminated unexpectedly. Tried to end the process but couldn't on Task Manager the process was called winlogon.exe apparently.

Sassa virus or one of the many variations go to symantec website on another computer to download a program to remove it.

Also when the computer tries to shut down

Click start / run

then type shutdown -a

then pess enter or click ok

notice the space before -a

This will stop the shutdown and allow you to connect to the net.

Hope this helps

Don't bother with system resore the virus will be there to.

If you have a serious error on the computer, the best way to check it out is to hit F8 all the time it is coming up. Then you can enter the safe mode and check it out. Run a virus check or something.

I assure you the Internet is not broken. However, it can be over used and be extremely slow. Or, your Internet Provider is having a problem

God Bless You :)

If this happened to me I would start up in "Safe" mode and run all my security programs, but try as I might I can't see that it is a problem related to the Internet.

Sounds like a virus to me.........I had one very similar to this. If you find a virus they recommended that you turn off system restore, run a virus removal tool and then restart the computer. If all is well turn the sytem restore back on again

Maybe you need to do a system recovery prior to the date this happened. Also, try to download and run spybot - it is a free program and works great.

first, when the message appears, you have to change the clock backwards, so you have time to run a free antivirus like avg
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-virus-free/lng/us/tpl/v5

after installing this avg antivirus, you run it and then it will delet automatically your virus.
