I've seen Boj na Kosovu (Battle of Kossovo) and it was a good film; though it seemed that the skillfull director had limited capabilties in comparison to American directors.

There was a Polish film about the Ottomans besieging a Polish stronghold. I remember a Tartar chieftain called Asya was one of the film's main figures. The film ended very wierdly; as one of the siege engineers (probably French or German) committed suicide after the defenders replused the Turks (although his role in the defence was outstanding)?!!

Are there any other outstanding films that depict the Ottoman Turks? What are their names? What are the nationalities of these films?

Check out 1988 Bulgarian film "Vreme na nasilie." It's set in the 17th century. A Bulgarian Christian region is selected by the Ottoman rulers to serve as an example of conversion to Islam. A Janissary who was kidnapped from the village as a boy is sent to force the reluctant inhabitants to convert. The Turkish governor seeks a peaceful solution, but ultimately torture, violence, and rebellion break out.

There is also "Lawrence of Arabia" with Peter O'Toole. It is about the real life adventures of T.E. Lawrence, a British major who unified Arab tribes and led them in the fight for independence from the Ottoman Turks in the 1920s.
