I want to ditto what mamma2 said--good advice.
Here's a couple suggestions for the little gift from both of you. You could do one of those plaster molds of the babies hand (a little tricky, but you can sometimes catch him when he's sleeping and get it) and then write on it "Daddy's Little Valentine."
Or, another handprint variation--get Valentine colored construction paper cardstock (red, white, pink, black). I've seen something where you trace the baby's hand, the mom's hand, and the dad's hand --and cut them each out on different colored paper (you can tell your husband you are doing something for the baby book when you trace his hand). Take a hole punch and punch a hole at the base of the hands, and tie them together with a piece of twine or yarn--or you can glue them together with the babies on top, then your handprint, then his. A sweet message would be "Your hand in mine, his hand in ours."

Congratulations! I'm the mother of 2, I had my second in August. I would suggest doing something simple and cute, a framed pic of the 2 of them or 3 of you might be nice (even one in a magnet frame for the fridge). Then I would suggest something that reminds him/her of how you felt before you had a baby, something familiar like a favorite thing to eat you shared, a favorite movie, an easy activity. If you are feeling sexy you could wear something underneath to reveal later but I recommend putting no pressure on yourself in that department. Letting your loved one know that your place for him/her hasn't changed and that you haven't forgotten the little things should go a long way.
Hope you have a special day!

Basically what I'm doing is that I'm giving him a memory box with some stuff I put together for him. I also made him a really nice card with a heartfelt poem that I wrote. I made him a poem book with pictures I have taken as well. : } I'm doing all this stuff because Valentine's is our first anniversary. ♥
