I'm suprised most Americans know where Britain is or that it even exists. Most of you don't know what even happens in the real world and think that the world revolves around your country.

"Do they actually hate us that lots?" No. The British who make exciting of 9/11 not greater signify 60 million Britons, than those people who bankrolled the Provisional IRA for 25 years in a conflict that observed over 3,000 people from the two facets of the sectarian divide, and individuals from neither area* murdered, signify 3 hundred million people. yet even until eventually now then, there grew to become into yet another difficulty with some fokkers bombing us with American help, lower back in WW2. All plane in the Luftwaffe mandatory tetraethyl lead gas, the only companies who ought to grant that have been American. which skill while German bombers have been targetting our cities in bombing raids that ought to finally end up killing 60,000 British civilians, and maiming many greater, they have been flying on American presented gas, from the likes of usual Oil of latest Jersey. i'm no longer Anti-American, i'm professional-British.

Lol Jacob, In my house that's true we do sit and drink tea whilst talking about the fear being perpetuated by your presidential powers and watching Michael Moor on the DVD player. Oh and don't forget the man who ate Mc Donald's for a month and his health went right down hill.
Perhaps Americans talk about how we are all catching up with you because our government seems equally as determined to keep us in fear.
By the way those awful people on Big Brother behaved really badly whilst you Americans were lovely. I really would like you to know that we don't all swear and make rude smells or indeed bully others mercilessly. Some Brits can even be kind, construct a sentence and communicate with others without shouting.

I think it goes both ways. I heard an American chat show host saying that the British have bad teeth and bad food, to an American actor who lives in London , thankfully he didn't agree with the American host. I went to America last summer and found that Americans teeth are no better if not worse than the British. So basically people make stories up about different nationalities, and they are often not true, but people believe them to be true. I visited America last year and the year before and I prefer them to most Europeans. I do also blame the media for showing us programmes like America's Dummest criminals, and people think that is what people are like in America, but the truth is, its only a small percentage that are like that.

Unfortunately stereotypes are usually the ambassador for a nation and stereotypes are seldom flattering, think the drunken penny pinching Scotsman, the garlic breathed Frenchman, the thieving gypsy or blissfully ignorant Irishman.
I wouldn't really say this is reserved for Britain - bashing America has become a global sport. Much of it comes from the previous arrogance of America(ns) and the cocksure attiude of being "the best country in the world", now with a global network of visual communication Americas flaws are being laid bare to the world.
And those flaws it has to be said are quite remarkable.
The stereotypical American has become the obese, burger guzzling, godfearing, gun toting, moron electing, delusionary rather than the polished, financially secure, family centric image american entertainment touts.
So you're now the butt of jokes rather than the instigator - welcome to the world…

Don't worry, its not like its the only thing anyone talks about. Its mostly trendy liberals & comedians that do it & I think its based in the British tradition of mocking the powerful. I mean, we could make fun of Somalia but it just wouldn't be funny, would it ? The USA on the other hand, is big enough to take it on the chin.
Also, we're no longer allowed to rip the piss out of the French (cheese eating, surrender monkeys) so what can we do ?
Personally, I've liked all the Americans I've met.

I don't, I just take people for what they are regardless of where they come from or religious beliefs. I was born in England of Irish parents and also one of my Grandfathers was an American, so who the hell would I be to judge. Just take others for what they are and treat others as you would like to be treated yourself.

Why do some Americans hate and make fun of us British? According to Americans, everybody here loves to drink tea, well, I'm British, I drink coffee instead of tea and I don't hate or make fun of the Americans.
