.... or am I really pregnant 6 months after giving birth to twins?

I took an Equate test. I'm not on the pill. Could I still have hcg in my system? Should I test again with a better test?

There *are very very few reasons why a test would show up with a false positive. The "dollar store" tests and Walmarts "equate" test have had a few problems in the false positive department.
However, most other pregnancy tests need at least 25-50 mIU hcg (and thats for very sensitive tests) to show a positive. MOST store bought pregnancy tests, require higher then 50 mIU hcg (the pregnancy hormone) to show a positive. Chances are, you are pregnant. Good luck hon!

Yes, you can get a false positive. If you are taking birth control pills, that will give a false positive. There may be other causes too. Of course, it's also possible that you are pregnant 6 months after giving birth to twins. Bless your heart!

Yes you can get a false positive, though it is rare. Most of the time when you get a "false positive" you actually had a chemical pregnancy.
You can get pregnant any time after giving birth so you could very possibly be pregnant. Go to your doctor and get tested.

highly likely to get pregnant, your body is like a pregnancy incubator right now, more fertile than ever. THe chance of you getting a false positive is like one in a million, dont count on it!! I think the only way you can get the pregnancy horomone is if you have a deficiency of some sort, which could be super dangerous so see a doc right away

It is possible to get a false positive. Take a second test or just go see your doctor.

False positives are always possible, even on HIV tests.

it's extremely, extremely rare though. I mean you can't screw up peeing on a stick :)

Take another, it'll probably be the same but if not.. you're going to have to take a third test.

As long as you looked at the result in the time it said to on the packet (e.g. 10 minutes) then no. You are pregnant.
