No. If someone doesn't want to vote, that is their right. We have the right to vote, not an obligation.

Do you really want some of the morons in the US making uninformed, pathetic decisions based on who has the flashier tv ad?

Of course it should not be mandatory to vote.

NO! This is a FREE COUNTRY. I know we keep forgetting that, but really we are supposed to be a free country. With that freedom comes choice. If you choose not to vote, than so be it. I think a lot of people really feel that their vote doesn't count anymore anyway. I plan to vote, but I can understand why others wouldn't.

No, surely if someone does not want to vote they should not be punished for it, what if the candidates for the election don't have any real views on what this citizen wants, why should they be forced?

Absolutely. And while we're at it, how about 2 years mandatory civil service? (Military, Police, Border Patrol, Peace Corps...)

I am pretty damn liberal, but Americans have grown so unaware, lazy, and unappreciative of what they have, and completely out of touch with politics. That's why these idiots ended up in power-no one was watching.

No. If a person isn't motivated enough to get out and vote, then maybe they should just keep their opinions to themselves anyway.
