It reminds me of the insane scenario when about four million Americans were treated to the greatest Halloween trick of all time and driven to paranoid behaviors witrh the Mercury Theater on the Air's October 30, 1938, radio adaptation of H.G. Wells' 1898 novel The War of the Worlds!
Were the Mercury Theater and the broadcasting station responsible for the costs incurred as a result of the paranoid behaviors of the people???
It's strange that our Homeland Security intelligence did not smoke out the intentions BEFORE the gimmicks were planted... and in so many cities! If they were real bombs, the panic in Boston wiuld not have stopped real terrorists from causing real damage to the other cities. If anything, the event opens our eyes to the lame intelligence we have in protecting ALL Americans in ALL communities. It's amazing no one noticed the planting of these gimmick items when they have been planted in so many areas and in so many cities. Homeland Security should bear the Boston bills for their employees' incompetence in dealing with intelligence to protect Americans. What if they were real bombs from real terrorists????

I would have to say they reacted appropriately but I think the back lash toward TCN and Turner are not justified. Bostonian officials and the governor are just a little tiffed about being on the receiving end of a good gag. I mean, come on. Relax people. I want to be safe as the next person, but just because you are part of the gov't doesn't mean that you have to act like a donkey on the receiving end of a rectal exam....seriously. We can't get on like this. The middle east is having a nice lil laugh at all this because, you see, if someone actually planned on hurting us, we wouldn't know until after the fact. I hope that never happens.

Dog, let me just say...shut up! Don't even bring 11 Sept. into this. Let's not get all ancient Roman and imperial-like up in here You're talking about a lite brite. First of all, who's running the investigation: Gomer Pyle?! Do those dumb asses even know what a C4 brick looks like? There are dudes in Columbia Rd. projects in Boston or a tenement in Brooklyn that know more about a C4 brick than these folks heading up this case do. If this isn't overreacting, I don't know what is. Can any of us make a move without the government and local authorities wanting to label somebody a terrorist? Think about it....a lite brite. Look at the picture. It's nothing more than something kids would play with....and don't give me any nonsense about "well maybe it was supposed to look like a toy, but you never know, it could be a bomb in disguise". Be sensible. Please America..for once, be sensible. Don't be like that guy in the ghetto that will kill somebody for looking at him the wrong way, that will cause a lot of uproar for something incredibly trivial...think.

i do think they overreacted. to those who knew what the show was, I'm sure they were fine, but those who never seen the show were probably the ones who freaked out the most.
i think some of the spots were these signs were found may have put some fear into some as some were found near or around bridges.
p.s. hey Sorcha, i like your photo

They are still over reacting. They want to sue Adult Swim's parent company and jail the people who were hired to put those signs up.

People, these were simple generic Lite-brite toys with the nameplate of the manufacturer removed and the pattern of a cartoon character put on them. I know after 911 we have to be careful, but come on. Confusing a bomb with a lite-brite toy? Remember the lite-brite from when you were a kid?
The only reason that the police and authorities are making such a big deal over this is because they looked like fools and dont know a bomb or toy when they see one.

I rather have an over reaction and nobody dies or an under reaction where thousand die.
Hind sight is 20/20 given the information at the time I may have done the same thing.

Were you living in this country on 9/11????
Of course they were justified shutting down parts of the city. They would have been irresponsible if they hadn't.
They are freakin' lucky *I'm* not in charge of what happens to them.

You soon forget about 9/11 or 1993 WTC bombing or plan to blow up major bridges and landmarks all over the country. How would you have reacted if it really was planted bombs and the police did nothing about it?
