What a horrid sport. Gary Bettman has created the NBA. Awful to watch no hitting,fighting, intensity and any touch is penalized by the 4 officials clogging the ICE. THIS SPORT HAS BEEN RUINED!!!!

LOL intensity? The refs are responsible for 75% of goals in the "sport" and PP goals aside HALF of every game is penaltys. NBA NBA

a friend of mine was laughing at the NBA I mean NHL "was in chicago last week...*&^% CHICAGO vs Nashville, one of the best teams in the league.... i know its superbowl...but 7000 fans on a friday nite...in chicago....and *&%* chearleaders too????!?!?!?!? very bothersome...game was like watching paint dry..... i saw a check in the 2nd period.........................penalty called....... unreal. thank god i can still play in my leagues....i watch the games there and they're better!

I totally agree. Buttman screwed this sport. I miss the old times when checking and fighting were a regularity in the game. The sport is too finesse, not enough physicallity. I like the 1-0 or 2-1 games.
The physical aspect of hockey is what(or did) seperates hockey from the other major sports. I'm not saying that no other sport is physical, but hockey allows fighting unlike any other sport.
The NHL is trying to attract new fans, but at the same time, they're losing old fans like you and I.

I feel we are taking a step forward, and two steps back. The reason for the new style uniforms sounds good and all, but sounds more like self gratification. To keep your minds off what really matters, TV endorsements, this stupid schedule, and lack of interest in the sport.
I don't have a problem with the rules, i am for them. A hook is a hook. It shouldn't matter how long you hooked them for. It takes human error out of the equation. We do not share the same opinions, so why would you think the referees would call a hook the same way every time. Its not a judgment call anymore. But, it is disconcerting that the same players get away with committing these penalties without repercussions. Just watch Pronger play. I still see him committing hooking and inference penalties with out a call. Its up to the league to recognize this and do something about it.

I don't agree with a lot of what Bettman does (the new schedule and TV contract are both smacks in the head) but there are still hard checks people actually get hit harder now with clean checks because the speed element is back in the game. The clutch and grab days of garage league NHL are thankfully behind us but let us hope the TV contract and a somewhat balanced schedule can be put in place for the future of the league.

if you think there is no hitting, fighting or intensity in hockey then you don't actually watch it. the game is faster with the new holding penalties, more power plays, higher scores, goalies equipment is smaller, no more ties and a tonne of shoot-outs. Basketball is a 'sport' for lazy people who don't play any defense and are only worried about how they look when they dunk. in basketball if an offensive player is running to the basket the defensive player steps out of his way , nothing at all like hockey. basketball is a slap fest with gangstas who can't toss a proper punch. end of conversation.

I do believe you are watching something else there isn't 4 officials on the ice. I just watch the Boogey Man the other night kick the crap out of some jerk on the Flames. He got the regular 5 minute major just like in the past.
