I'm gonna buy a couple select BD titles with my PS3 Rebate to try and expand my Blu Ray collection (and do my share of supporting the format). I got Talledaga nights, and Fifth Element so far. talledaga nights I was very impressed with. The Fifth Element I was very unimpressed with (loved the movie, but the quality looked no better the an HD movie on cable).

Just curious if these movies (for PQ) are worth buying on blu-ray or if they are no better than how the regular DVD version would look on an upconverting DVD player. My TV only displays 420i/420p/720i/720p/1080i.

blu ray is a waste of time UNLESS you have a hi-def screen. Don't waste your time on a cathode ray tube. Won't look any diff. Also, you want to find out which of your films was filmed with digital cameras or on old film cameras. The digital films will be unbelievable on the blu ray. Absolutely realistic. Enjoy.
