ICQ, yahoo messingger (aLso 360), microsoft massinger and all many others allow you to connect with on-line frinds, then IM (typing messages), chat, share photos, videocknferencing and running programs and let the other see, hear and type simutaneously.

You just need to go to one of the web-site to register and it is nornally free. and then send message to invite your friend to accept you as a partner through email (handled by the program). Once your friend accepts, then his/her icons appear in the application and you can chat with him anytime when he is on line.

If you want to try, I can try with you. You have to install yahoo messaging first, invite me, and then prepare headset (better than just using laptop mic and speaker) and webcam.if you want video-conferencing .Cheers

You are yahoo member. So obviously you could go in for Yahoo Messenger! There you'll get a lot of chat rooms to chat as much as you want.

You can't chat with just anyone. You'll both need to have specific bits of hardware and software.
