I have an appointment to get a pap smear but I have my nuva ring in, can I still get the pap or do I have to wait?

No, you can't have a pap with your NuvaRing in. While the doctor can probably take the swab, it'll prevent them from having a clear line of sight into your vagina, so they won't be able to see any abnormalities.
However, you can take the NuvaRing out prior to the pelvic exam. As long as it is not out for more than three hours, this does not decrease its effectiveness. Just rinse it out with cool or lukewarm (not hot) water and pop it back in as usual.

It seems like you might wait, but if you can call and speak with a nurse to ask that would be the best. As long as it isn't a check up for an ongoing condition, and as long as you don't believe you need it very soon. I suggest to let your health care provider know what is going on, and go from there.
