The only reason some people have more power than others is because of thier weapons. If police officers did not have any weapons, who would listen to them? If a country did not have an army, what would stop invaders? The only reason society can function it seems, is because of the threat of punishment, and the only reason that person can be obtained for punishment, is because fear of getting hurt if running away or ignoring the law.

Not everyone would do the things you describe.

The old adage about a few bad apples applies here.

Violence was a created by humans out of a fear and the way certain human beings have decided to react to this paranoia or using violence as an excuse for their chosen behaviour, not all violence is needed, the only way to protect your home, family and what you have worked for, is by making sure that you decide to see strangers, as human beings you have not yet met, it seems that certain people have made all of humanity doubt one another based on rumours, that could be true or fabricated out of jealousy, spite and pure inner pain. I am saying that if we create violence it will exist and only by changing how we live and our choices, then non violence could and should be chosen. For now the creation of guns and power hungry individuals are what this world must live with. Until our destruction will not only satisfy those who seek it but will also kill those who want it. Innocent or not, no human should die at the hand of another human.

I believe that violence had to come first. If we didn't have any violence we wouldn't need any police officers. Some people use violence to get what they want. We have to have some way of defending ourselves.
If everybody behaved themselves within reason, wouldn't this be a wonderful world. There was violence back before Jesus was born. People just took things into their own hands.

Here is the problem. Police need weapons because they exist, they do not need weapons because of violence. If there were no police there would be less violence and crime. The citizens would not stand for crime. It is precisely because there is police that there is so much crime.

Volence is NOT what keeps society together, rules are. It is because rules are violated that we need an eforcing body to insure the safety and well-being of the majority, who are civilized human beings!!

well, don't underestimate that other great incentive for the average troglodyte: greed. the promise of far more than a sane person would ever want or need keeps most of leadership-politicos, and similar psychopaths going. and, ultimately, their policies and agendas "keep things together".
