What topic of discussion do you wish people would reserve for quiet, private conversation?

There is little that freaks me out... though I must admit that details of operations and things like vomit make me a little green. And gag... and... well... you don't want to know...

I doubt there is a topic I'd shy away from.

But there is such a thing as "too much information" within a topic and THAT is what I am going to address.

I am quite liberal (actually very liberal) but I would not discuss information about a third person which I do not have permission to share. Sometimes (on here) I see folk who will go into great details about aspects pertaining to someone else, not privy to the "debate", and I cringe.

Basically- anything you would not say face to face to a group of strangers is "too much" information.

I hope I have never yet embarressed myself on the net in that I have posted something I will later regret. And if everyone could put hand on heart and say that they do not regret having posted what they posted then it is not too much information.

Though- there are also posts on here I simply do not get involved in. Usually of a sexual nature because I keep my sexuality between myself and my partner. No need to have the whole world in bed with me, now is there?

;-)

Nice debate!

I've heard people call them girly but never gay. Anyway to answer the question: Its mostly because cocktails are often so diluted with juices or whatever that you can barely taste the alcohol in them therefore they are very easy to drink. They still get you drunk of course, but its the easy way out. Not to be sexist but women are often considered weaker than men...just saying. Men drink strong drinks like whiskey on the rocks to show they're "TOUGH" and can handle a drink that puts hair on their chest. Men shouldn't feel intimidated drinking a cocktail though, at least they're drinking alcohol.

depends on the relationship you have with that person. If it's a blood relative like Mom or Dad, too much information is anything about their sex life. I can handle conversations about their health, Dr. visits etc. If it's the folks at the office I dont' really want to know anything too specific about them, I like to keep it superficial - just niceties. And for good buddies, I can handle the sex talk, but anything about bodily functions is too much. Then there's the kids - I want to hear everything!!! Nothing is off limits

by the time i read this question there were already 44 answers. amazing! yet i did not read a one in fear it would predicate my answer. ''too much information.'' there are several which would be well left at home in your own four walls. I need not know of your own sexual encounters. i do not share mine with anyone except my true love. the positions, the moment, the place, the time, the excitement, the full picture ... please ... keep this to your self and just SMILE!! A smile big enough can tell me all I need to know. Just smile. Others will use their imaginations as to what you are smiling about. Don't tarnish the beauty of love with explanations. ..... just ... SMILE! 8~)

When someone calls me and says "I won't be in today because I was up all night with vomiting and explosive diarrhea and I had an accident and it got all over the bathroom floor then the dog ran in and started to lick it up ...." etc etc when a simple "I won't be in today" would have sufficed!! I don't need to know the gory details.

One time, a female friend told me all the gory details of a gynocological operation she had after the birth of her youngest daughter. It really was way too much information - her description was so graphic that I actually fainted!

Anything that'sultra gross is definately too much information.

Oh and if me invite me over to see 500 slides of their family vacation and they all look the same but you have to listen about when, where and how each one was taken. Then that's way too much information.

Or when I visit my father and he tells me what he did last week in an hour by hour replay mode. That's way too much information.

Anything else is probably ok.

A person private sex life and what they did and to whom they did it to is a little too much info unless of course it is someone close to you like a close relative or friend. Also going into detail regarding their bowel movements or infections that oozed green liquid....YUK! A little bit too much info. lol

I'm old school. Things about one's sex life, medical ills, even personal problems should be kept for private discussion with friends and family.

I am not fond of blood and things along those line. I think it takes a certain person to be a doctor and do these operations but that is not something that I would be able to do.
