Let's say I know a family that wants to pay a mother $1,000 to keep her child. Is this illegal? It seems like it should be but I'm not certain about the laws in the state or the country for that matter. They are probably doing this to avoid adoption fees but it seems very wrong. Any suggestions about my legal obligations on the matter?

If it is illegal, report them to the authorities.

It is illegal anywhere in North America. Report it to Childrens Aid, Department of Social Services, The police. Try to keep track of where the child is in case they decide to leave the State or Country as it may be harder to find the child. If they do disappear after you report it and the authorities decide it's worth bringing the child back, contact INTERPOL. They can find anything or anyone. Through illegal adoption a child can disappear off the face of the planet never having existed. Which makes it easier to put the child into slave labour camps when their older. When culprits feel the child has worn out it's use, the child can be killed and disposed of and nobody will have ever known the child existed.Or when older they can be placed into the sextrade. Some underground sextrade sects allow clients to kill the children to enhane their climax, This is sick. But the one's who own the kids only want money and they charge more money if a client wants to kill the child. Because that's one less asset for the seller/renter and he/she has to find another child. They have no remorse. It's all just dollar signs to them.

Or maybe they mean well and can't have kids of their own. I feel for them but they need to go through the right channels like everyone else. Report it. Immediately. I'm also adopted.

Technically, it is illegal to "buy" a baby. However, many people will pay for pre-natal care, hospital stay, and other "expenses" the mother incurrs during the pregnancy. This is NOT considered "payment" but as part of the adoption costs. If the mother is not being coerced and is willing to give her child up, it really isn't any of your business.

IF and only IF you have evidence that she is being forced to "sell" her child should you call the authorities. Other than that, learn to keep your nose in your own affairs.

Paying people for children is illegal. Of course, adoptive parents may agree to pay for a woman's health care while pregnant, pay adoption agency fees, pay legal costs and fees, etc., but cannot pay for the child per se. How do you know that the $1,000 is not for one of the good reasons, and not one of the bad?

If this is a pattern, consider talking to your local police, prosecutor, FBI, or US Attorney's office (if this is more than just one family adopting one kid).

Through 'legal' adoption the people involved are there to make money and no othr reason and if the one wanting to adopt can't pay they won't suceed. I know this from experianceing by haveing had friends within the adoption field, inludeing the so-called social workers. If a woman will sell her child she dosn't deserve to have it. If the family that wants this child should be left alone unless you have reason to believe they are criminal intent. If you feel they are criminals, contact the attorny general office, not social workers, they;ll just find a higher bidder.

Sounds illegal to me and someone wanting to bypass the normal channels to adopt a child could also want the child for illegal and immoral reasons, i.e child pornography or prostitution, they could even be re-selling the child to a wealthier person or into child slavery. My suggestion to you is if you are aware of such a situation you need to tell the authorities right away. By the way if this is a friend of yours be prepared to loose the friendship because I'm sure she will come under some serious scrutiny by the authorities for even considering selling her child.

In America, regardless of state, this is completely legal as long as they follow up with all the needed paperwork for guardianship of the child. Once those are taken care of, it's legal to adopt your children to a loving and caring family.

I doubt anyone would necessarily come after you but if you are aware of the circumstances, then you are guilty of knowing and allowing a crime to be committed. In most states, it is illegal to offer monetary compensation to the mother of your adopted child outside of the parameters of the adoption.

Your legal obligations? I would be more concerned with your moral obligations.

i be attentive to, maximum of countries ought to close down their adoption classes via a pair cheating people. Its a troublesome selection via fact without adoption, babies go through in terrible situations in orphanages. yet to have your baby abducted or made to experience compelled to sell him/her. it is previous torture. It does not help that companies caught doing something like this could get fined or loose thier licence. Wow! thats it? what's the inducement to renounce this then. issues wont get greater advantageous until eventually athorities take the responcible events and function a competent previous style hangin! which will make others think of two times.

The mother is selling her child. That is illegal. Call the police, child protective agency, new media and everyone else you can think of. That woman should never be allowed to breed again.

it is perfectly legal to leave your baby in the care of "friends". the mother would still be the legal guardian, but the people that the baby is with have the equivalent of custodial rights if the mother is unavailable or not around.
