Maybe im wrong but i think its always the chief wearing it ? Whats the reason ? I always wondered =)

well now in 2007 people still like too wear earings, and bracelets of value. I would imagine that in those days they were of propper value also. And If a pirate got rich, he could buy stuff. It shows you that they have money and that they are powerfull! But in P.O.T.C its probally true. the pruducer said that they wanted a pirate too look like a pirate. So Capn Jack is a good example of what a pirate looks like. And Indian tribes just made whatever they wanted if they has the material. the canibals were also like indians, and whatever they could find that could resemble something of further value, they would take it. Its a guess a common act of piracy. savvy?

i think it was just a sign of their wealth and the power that they possessed. and it was a sign of status. that's all i know! ;)
