For the price of a Mac, you can get a darn nice Windows laptop. However, if you are set on a Mac, you could explain to them that Macs are much less susceptible to viruses and security holes.
The operating system is generally recognized as more stable than Windows.
They are smaller and lighter than most Windows machines, which makes them more portable.
They have good battery life, which adds to their portability.
You can get MS Office for a Mac, and compatibility issues are much less than they used to be.
Macs allow for creativity as they have many software titles for working with music, photos and videos. Many people with artistic minds use Macs for that reason. They are powerful editing tools.
If you are a student, you may be eligible for discounts. Go to http://www.apple.com/students. This will help you with the cost factor.
There are Apple stores in many parts of the country (if you are in the USA). They are great for support. My bro has used them when his iPod broke and they were very good.
Another option is refurbished computers. If you look on apple.com, you can find a link to where they are selling refurbished laptops. Those save quite a bit of money as well.
Good luck! Worst case, if you are old enough, you could get a job. Or you can always offer to put your birthday/Christmas money towards one, so it makes it more the price of a windows laptop!

It's impossible to explain to them the superiority of the mac system and unfortunately for you they don't come at bargain prices like the PC's. Instead I think you should appreciate their buying you a notebook computer in the first place and humbly accept the PC, not all kids are so lucky you know. PC's aren't that bad you know - just count the millions who think they're better then the macs, they obviously get the job done.

The answer to this question will always be false so long as the question remains "How to convince parents to get me a Mac?"
If the question were "How to convince parents to get me a Pc?" answers would come about almost immediately.

It's not worth the money. Macs in general aren't worth the money. For around $1,200 you can get an amazing (PC) laptop. How about this one? It costs less than most Macbooks and basically hands it to the Mac.

it incredibly is impossible to describe to them the prevalence of the mac equipment and regrettably for you they don't come at good deal fees like the pc's. instead i think of you may savour their paying for you a very own pc in the 1st place and humbly settle for the pc, not all young babies are so fortunate you be conscious of. pc's are not that undesirable you be conscious of - merely count variety the thousands and thousands who think of they're better then the macs, they needless to say get the interest finished.

Just walk around acting superior to everyone else. Be smug, pompous, preening and supercilious. And try to convey the impression that you are incredibly creative, even if you aren't.
They'll soon realize that you definitely are a Mac person.
