No, not at all! The most treasured gift I have from my husband is a mini-video that he made while he was in Iraq. He set it to Mariah Carey singing "I will never be too far away to feel you......" I still cry when I watch it, and it makes me love him even more!

In a way. I don't judge by the cost, I judge by the thought. If my man gave me diamonds I would be annoyed that he was buying into the mistreatment of the !Kung and other native bushmen of Africa. And I'd be disappointed that he bought into the consumerism madness.

But, I have a good man who knows me and knows what will give me the most joy, and, apparently has noticed that I never ever wear jewelry except for the ring we both wear. Instead, I got a new set of pans, a superfoods cookbook and a stuffed snowmonkey. I did research on snowmonkeys in college, and I've been griping about my old pans for months and I do love to cook and I am a Kitchen Witch so I go nuts for knowing all those chemical components in foods that do things to the body.

If you're wondering, he got good gifts too.

Yes, I do judge him by the gifts he gives me. Though 'judge' might be too strong a term. The choice of his gifts indicates things about me, about him and about us. But no, the gift doesn't have to be the most expensive thing out there, as you seem to be suggesting; I love chestnuts, and as a gift he brought me to the best hot chesnut place in town... he had to search all over for it. Too bad hot chestnuts are only for winter *sighs wistfully*

And, really, isn't the best gift his heart and soul? If I was a witch... I might just eat it.

no i have been married for a year and a half and all i want is love i dont care about the money or the material things and i know there r some girls that r gold diggers as you say but dont hold that against every single girl you meet. If you do you r going to have a very lonely life.

I'm not a gold digger, or materialistic, but my fiance got me sewing stuff for Xmas...yep, needles, and thread.
he said that he liked the way they raddled in the box so i wouldn't guess what it was, but i think i know different.

Definitely not because I met and married my husband when he didn't have any money. We are both still here 12 years later, so there must be something to the marrying for love thing :-)
