I don't see the point. How will your new love interest feel to learn you haven't let go of your ex?

Generally speaking and except in rare circumstances, it not called talking its called testing the waters.
The only good thing about an ex is that they can be used a a good measure of the person your with character, maturity, and integrity. Anyone who thinks it's OK is either snookering you or too immature to be with.
If your the one that thinks its OK to talk to an ex it means you are too immature to have a relationship and you probably expect the other person to be mature. "we just friends you shouldn't get upset." When someone is selfish, rude and disrespectful a mature person will get upset.

If your not in any relationship at the time i don't see why not. If you are then no it's not ok. If you are with someone you have to take your partner's feelings into consideration and how would you like it if your partner was befriending their ex? Im sure you would be jealous and be wondering what they are talking and thinking about.

I think it's fine, as long as it's just friends and everyone knows the boundaries. I don't see why you can' t be friends with someone you dated. Alot of people have problems with that thoug.

if they have no children together then they have no reason to be talking to each other especially if either one of them is involved in a serious relationship, like living together or more.
