I have recently started a big change in my eating habits and excercising to try and lose weight. I know about how much I should lose to be at an ideal weight for my height and frame but I am not sure about what size that would make me. So I guess what I'm asking is if there is a woman reading this who is about 5'6" or 5'7" medium to large frame who weighs around 140, could you tell me what size pants and shirts you wear. Oh and not very busty as I am only a B cup . thanks

thanks so much already for the answers. I figured somewhere around the 8/10 range and you all pretty much hit that. 13/14 is a bit big for that weight and height I would think. I know people who are that size and they weigh more like 160 or so. also I have a long torso and shorter legs, as the women who is highwasted suggested, I would be a bit different than you. I have started working out at home switching between tae bo, bellydancing and some tony little target tapes. its very cold here now but once spring comes I will start walking again. its hard for me to go to the gym as we really can't afford it and I have a 1 yr old at home with me. thanks again for your help and kind words :)

I'm about 5'-6-1/2", and I'm guessing you'd be in the size 6-8 range.

Hi, I am about 5 "6" or 5"7" and wear 135-140 pounds and 36 B cup and according to my BMI (body mass index) chart, I am at my ideal weight. I am not fat at all and I'm not super skinny. Right at my ideal weight. Mostly I wear a size 7 or 8 in juniors pants, and I usually wear a medium size shirt. It all depends on how its made though! If i go to aeropostale i know i have to get an XL so it wont be skin tight! Sometimes pants are sized bigger, and I'll have to wear a 9, and sometimes they're sized smaller and I can wear a 4 or 6. Its weird, I think all sizes should be the same so it wouldnt be so confusing!! :-)

I am 5-6 and weigh 253 pounds and believe me I am not pregnant and I have had so so soooooooooooo much stress lately in my life that I don't care what people think anymore although I do hold my weight very well. I have am busty and plan on working out at the gym when I can get my life back in order. To answer your question so you know it was coming from a reliable source........pants is about a 22-24 and shirts would be xl but in a womens size etra large not these "normal" looking sizes that people of your stature would wear I mean those kind that look like a circus tents with the oddball colors only someone on a golfcourse whose blind in both eyes would wear. Humor never ages and people should always carry one or two in their purse for emergencies.

Hi! To be honest, there is no real size average for that height or weight. Every woman has different waiste and hips, which can cause either smaller or larger sizes. Personally I wear a size 4 and I weigh about 132 and I'm 5'6, and then I have friends who are the same weight and height who wear bigger sizes b/c of muscle tone and some that wear a size smaller. Don't worry about what size it is your wearing, be focused on feeling great while wearing it! :)

hi if ur 5'6 and i weigh 140
The result of your BMI calculation is: 22.6(bmi should be 18.5-24.9)
Weight for a Person 5 ft 6 in Tall: 134 lb (range 115 to 154 lb) or
Weight for a Female 5 ft 6 in Tall: 130 lb according to other sources but u already know how much u need to lose right?
most people of this frame use pants of size 8 - 10 long
and shirts of medium size sometimes large but not often

It SO depends on your uniquely individual shape, but it sounds as if you'd be a 10 or 12 in most clothes. I say "most" because you might be an 8 in a designer garment -- more expensive clothes tend to be cut a bit larger (giving wealthier women the illusion of being a smaller size!). You also might find yourself in a 13/14 in something that's cut to fit snugly in the hips. It varies so much -- you just have to try things on.

i'm 5'7 and when i weighed around 140 i wore 9 jeans or sometimes a 7. but i'm high waisted so your size could be a lil smaller. i wore medium shirts most of the time but different brands fit differently. good luck on your diet and stuff!!!!
