They are the most popular girls in school. Sometimes they are nice too me sometimes they aren't. I don't think they like my friends but they haven't tried to get to know them. I think they make fun of me behind my back. Yet they write poems in English
class about crying at night because of all the rumors about them.
A little part of me can't help but think that they just need true friends.
Should i invite them?

Invite them as a test if all goes well maybe they really do just need a few true friends. If not they will show their true colors.

Popularity should NOT be a factor, or you risk getting ignored at your own sleepover! I'd stick with friends that you already know well. As for the "popular" girls, get to know them better at school first. Some really are great and deserve their popularity, some are just obnoxious, clique-ish, manipulative snobs. If they pass the test of friendship (not spreading rumors about YOU, actually listening to you), then you can work on being their friend (and defender).

Don't invite them out of pity. Invite them because they have a personality that attracts you as a friend. Keep this in mind: No one will like you until you learn to like yourself. You will not make friends by making others feel sorry about you! Relationships are about giving and receiving. A person like the one you describe, seem to only want to receive. As long as you treat them nice they will stick around, but don't expect something in return.

Hope this helps.

I wouldn't. A sleepover should be fun and it sounds like they have the potential to ruin that for you and your close friends. Maybe invite them to the movies and out for a burger another time. If something goes wrong, you'll still be stuck with them for the rest of the night.

I think you should skip inviting them this time, and if you think its really worth your time in the future you can try to initiate friendship in the future.
And if it turns out to be a waste of time you could always write a poem about what babies the popular girls are for being so completely immature by crying themselves to sleep about what someone thinks of them!

What for? If you dont know them that well i suggest a more casual activities would be better. Leave the sleepovers later, at least after you get closer to them. But a sleepover on a weekday? Dont you have school?

no, they dont sound like ur true friends, ur other friends (the true ones) will probably think u r invitig them 4 popularity reasons. and whether u know it or not, u WILL be spending more time w/ them than ur other friends.and there will be a huge conflict!!!! if u want to test thats fine, but do it at school

I would. It might help both of you to get to know each other. It certainly can't hurt. If they get snotty at the sleepover tell them why you invited them and tell them it's the last time if they don't straighten up. Tell 'em straight.

if you have proff that they talk about you behind your back then no. they are not good enough to be your friend. but if you have just heard it from your fiends who may or may not like the other girls or other sources i would say what the heck. if any trouble occurs at the sleepover then ask them to leave politely.
