My g/f is pregnant @ 39 weeks and she's having contractions for the past 7 hours, but the contractions are not regular. Some are 6 minutes apart, other's have been 20 minutes apart. According to her, they have not increased in intensity. Should we go to he hospital, or wait it out?

It is really her drs decision but if she isn't too uncomfortable then wait at home til the contractions are closer to 5 minutes apart and consistant. It won't be too long now. Congrats!

They're probably Braxton-Hicks contractions, which are getting the cervix softened up for labor and delivery, but at 39 weeks, I would take her in. The worst that can happen is they'll send her home again if they ARE just Braxton-Hicks, but if it's actual labor, at least she'll be in hospital. You didn't say how far you live from the hospital, but it's not worth risking the baby coming in the car!.

Have her call her doctor. From what it sounds like they are still Braxton hicks contractions, but since they have been occurring for so long, and I take it if she changes positions they do not cease, it just might be early labor (the beginning of the whole real labor process), give the doctor a call s/he might want her to come in for a nonstress test.

It sounds like Braxton Hicks Contractions, but to be sure, I would call her OB Dr. She will know for sure.
Most physicians and midwives suggest contacting them when your contractions are five minutes apart and lasting 60 seconds and you have had this activity for about an hour.

I think you should call her OB and see what the doctor thinks.

She could always go to the hospital, get checked, and come home if she's in early labor.

Good Luck!

wait it out...if she's really in early labor, they'll send her home until they are at least 10 mins apart, regular and increasing in intensity. good luck and congratulations!

wouldn't hurt to go get her checked also they need to make sure baby is still happy, them contractions can really upset the baby!!!
I'm sure things will start moving soon but go get her checked over to put your minds at rest.

GO GO GO! Better safe than sorry!!! The worst thing that will happen is you get to the hospital and the say to go back home...no big deal! I wouldn't risk it. Go and see what the DR's say.

Good luck and congrats! :) :) :)

Wait a bit longer until they become more regular. If in doubt, call her doctor.
