It's cos they are painstakingly going over every inch to try to find a small piece of metal. When you actually get down there & help to find that earring, you will know why!!!

try losing a ball bearing the size of a poppy seed on a black carpet.
I look like a moron crawling on all 4's with my face 2" from the carpet. Even my cat looks at me like "WTF is he doing?"
LOL...its the only way to find it.
