Sports increase testosterone levels in men....they're a machismo magnet. If sports had gender, volleyball, badminton and softball are considered women's sports, because women tend to gravitate towards them.

Now you've got sports equated with manliness, an atmosphere of competition among peers, and a guy expressing his enjoyment of feminine sports.....

In the lexicon of the jock, "gay" simply translates into the biggest loser of the competition of manliness, or effeminacy. Most likely, if they were looking down on someone's sexuality, they'd use a worse term.

I am unfamiliar with such labeling systems. To me you are gay if you're expressing a certain level of gleefulness and/or engaged in the pursuit of same-sex encounters ... but feel that the entire idea of making a call regarding a person's sexuality based wholly on some sport being played is a bit much.

Alas, I only wish I could say I am surprised that such application of sexual identity ... because I'm not.

Hey, I was intramural badminton champion 3 years running, captain of the volleyball team 2 years, second in archery 4 years ( I kept losing to a straight woman, and damn was she good), and unbeatable in both foosball and spades.I beat out all kinds of straight people and half of them were starters for the basketball team.

I use taht word openly. I never reeally thought about it, then one guy at my old high school made a big deal aboput it, I just don't see what the big problem was for saying this day was a gay day.
I was happy.

People sometimes think I'm gay because I once played a gay in a movie. It's funny. Audiences don't think you're a murderer if you play a murderer, but they do think you're gay if you play a gay. ~Perry King
