That is a bad idea! Don't pierce your own belly button. Do you have any idea of how infected your navel can get?? That is one of the easiest places to get an infection. You're running too much of a risk doing it yourself. You should really just wait. You only have 2 more years until you can get it on your own and those years will fly by fast. Trust me, just wait it out. What happens if in 2 years you don't even want it anymore? It's better to wait. Seriously, don't pierce it yourself.

Don't EVER pierce your own navel! Are you crazy? =P But seriously, you will almost certainly cause an infection, since you sound like you really don't know what you're doing or how to do it.
I tried to pierce my own when I was about 15 or 16 and it hurt like a b*tch and bled like crazy and I couldn't get it past the last bit of meat/skin...horrible...so I let that heal up and just went to a piercing parlor with a friend who was 18 and consented for me (I was 16 at the time). Sooo much better...didn't hurt a bit.

go to a store like Freestyles or Spencers or anywhere that has piercing needles and get a 12 guage needle and a 14 guage SIMPLE belly button ring (no dangly ones). It might not make sense to get different sizes but it's because the needle has to be larger than the belly button ring and with guages, the smaller the number, the bigger the size (weird, i know). I had a friend pierce mine just because it's easier. It's better to be standing than to be lying down, but I was wayyy too freaked out to be standing so I had to lie down. Mark where you want the ring to go and make sure it is centered and straight. I iced my belly button a little bit and then we cleaned & sterilized everything. Make the hole from top to bottom and then slowly pull out the needle while pushing the belly button ring through the bottom hole. Make sure to keep it SUPER clean and DO NOT take it out for at least 3 weeks (don't change it for as long as possible). To help with pain, you can take advil but I found out sea salt is the way to go. You can buy it at the grocery store..mix it with warm water and put it in a cup and hold it over your belly button while you're lying down. It not only takes away the pain but also cleans it. Good luck!!

PLEASE DO NOT PIERCE YOUR OWN NAVEL!
It is not like piercing your ears, your navel is very sensitve and you can end up hurting yourself very seriously. Ask your parents to sign that you can pierce your navel or just get over the fact you can't do it and wait.
You would need the professional needle and clamp to pierce it which you would have to buy, so it's better you get it pierced professionally.
Seriously... mine is pierced and it's no big whoop. It only seems that way when you're younger. Yea it looks cute but every1 has them these days so they're not a big deal

Well i'm 15 and have had mine for a couple years now and i can tell u a little bit about it but still i suggest gettin it done professionally!!! first i had to sit back in this reclining chair. He took a purple skinny marker and put 4 dots around it so he would know where to put it. Then he had this hollow fat needle about 2 centimeters wide and shoved it through (slow) but it was so sharp it didn't hurt. Then he took the barbel or hoop or whichever u prefer and put it through that hollow needle. He slid tha hollow one off and put the top ball on it. Then he told me to wash it every night with sea salt (about a tablespoon in a cup of warm water) he had me hold the cup on my bellybotton while tha water went on it. And in the shower to wash it with antibacterial soap. He told me to clean it for 6 months and then i can change it. So that's about it. But you could always just go to a tattoo/peircing place that doesn't check i.d. or doesnt ask for it and it's only $60 for a barbel and $40 for a hoop!
Good Luck!!

STOP! DO NOT TOUCH YOUR OWN BELLYBUTTON WITH A NEEDLE!
I did... 7 years ago during my rebellious teenager phase. I totally regret doing it myself. It was infected for 2 YEARS! It was so bad in fact that the infection caused the skin around my bellybutton to grow over the top ball of the banana ring that I used. And it had to be surgically removed. Now I have a huge ugly scar and scar tissue. You would be smart to wait until you are 18 to have it done. Or to sensibly ask your parents to do have it done because you want to save them massive amounts of medical bills from when that have to drag your butt in to the doctor to take care of a major infection. They may not see it your way, but at least you trid. DO NOT DO SELF PIERCINGS! It's painful, can get majorly infected and it leaves ugly scars if not done properly. I cannot stress this enough... DON'T DO IT!

i was 16 when i got mine done... if your parents agree with it and one is willing to go with you to sign a few things then they should do it no problem. i wouldnt recommend piercing it yourself as there is always the chance you could do it wrong so its best to get it done professionally. im sure if you look on the net for piercing studios and tatoo places your bound to find one that will pierce it at 16... alot of my friends got them done when they were 13 and 14 so you should have no problem really. :)

its very dangerous to do this yourself. i have friend who is a nurse and she sees this all the time, self done belly buttons to nipple piercings and more...they usually get badly infected and also the person piercing it usually can't stand the pain so they are half done. she said she sees some really nasty infections that actually can cause tissue damage and scarring. if you can't get it professionally done and no one, no where won't take you then wait til you can.

im not sure about the needle but diffidently use SEA SALT after. do not use peroxide because that kills the cells that you need for the piercing to heal. Edit: wow people are jerks huh? anyways i think you shouldn't use a sewing needle but maybe a different kind of needle (not sure which one xp) but make sure its as big as the ring your gonna use for your piercing. good luck !

When I was your age, I pierced my own belly button with a giant safty pin, alcohol, and ice. I put the safty pin in the alcohol to clean it. After I cleaned it, I didn't touch the part that I was using to pierce my belly so as to not get it dirty. While the safty pin was in the alcohol, I used a piece of ice to numb the spot I was piercing. It took me awhile to actually go all the way through my skin, bc I was a wimp and didn't want to just stab it through all at once. So I used a ton of ice to keep the spot numb. If you're the same way, keep a big bowl of ice near by you.
Also, once the spot is pierced, remember to keep it clean and not to wear clothes that are too confining. They could irritate the spot and keep it from healing.
