We used to think climate phenomena was the work of God. Now we think it is the work of Man. Neither is provable, as skeptics exist on both sides. Climate scientists will tell you that most scientists agree that global warming is man-made, but back in history, most "scientists/holymen" would have told you it was PROVABLE that these climate changes were the work of God. Most people trust what "climate scientists" say because they do not have the scientific training to disagree, as did most people in the past trusted the "scientists/holymen" because they lacked the training to disagree. Is this a pattern?

There's skeptics of global warming who are scientists themselves, and before you go slapping yourself on the back about the marvels of science let us remember that science has given us nuclear weapons, mustard gas, landmines, and many other horrors. Perhaps you need to take this into account?

No because stupidity is not a religion.

It is clear that the earths climate is always changing and I seriously doubt there's any thing we can do about it.

The epiphany for me came with the eruption of the volcano in back in the 1980's. It blew a giant hole in the ozone layer and belched out more CO2 than all the fossil fuels burned by mankind since the begining of time.

I started paying attention instead of just buying into all the hype.

Actually, it's more the other way around.

Religion is a wish fulfillment fantasy, that starts with the feeling, "Gee whiz, I wish I didn't have to die." Deny of global warming is a wish fulfillment fantasy that starts with, "This is gonna cost a bunch. I wish I didn't have to deal with it."

Religion is about denying the evidence of science for evolution and the science that consciousness depends on blood to the brain. GW skepticism is about denying the science of climate change. Since many of the GW skeptics are religious bible thumpers, they've had good practice with this sort of denial.

It's not about belief; it's about trust. We trust our science everyday when we drive over a bridge. Our science has brought us semi-conductor magic in the form of computers. It's put men on the moon and mars. It's earned my trust.

And it's not like there's an elite group of insiders that know everything and rthe rest of us know nothing. I'm not a climate scientist, but I know enough science to read and understand what they're saying. I understand scientific method. And despite what the skeptics would have you believe, the GW position makes sense to me.
