Don't know how this ended up in "Politics", but I think you are referring to a 70s-style HEAD shop. with pipes etc. for pot heads. Many communities have laws against selling "drug paraphernalia, so you'd better check that out, or your next question will be in "Law".
Where did you ever hear the word "hedge shop"? It would be good to know what you are talking about before you attempt to open any business.

Maybe, but I bet you get harrassed by local law enforcement over the paraphanalia. Head shops are like porn bookstores. They are legal but business districts put up a fight. Openeing up a business is more than just renting a building and setting up. Look into it all the way.

I want to own one too, I think that'd be so rad but I don't want to be a hippie. haha.
I think I'd make more owning a day care so I think I'll follow that dream instead.
Sounds good tho, you should also get into selling clothes, like band shirts, messenger bags, hats, posters etc..go to the whole way.
I also think it'd be cool if you had a soda fountain and like chairs out front so it could be more of a hang out too...well that's just my opinion....
