and there was this old man,who was looking for his little pet,i don't know what it was ,he was struggling and everything,and i told him where his pet was

well, dreams aren't always meant to be taken literally.
every character in your dreams is you, some part of you anyway. the old man is you.
perhaps you are struggling with something. maybe you are struggling with something but you don't realize it; that is, your unconscious self is aware of a struggle.
maybe it's just a decision you have to make, or have made are unsure of.
or, it's your unconscious mind replaying something you experienced, that maybe you weren't aware of; like something you saw on TV or read in a book, or heard in a song. maybe it was something you passed but did not notice. remember also, your brain remembers everything even if "you" don't. it hears everything and stores it.
or maybe it's just a way to keep amused while asleep.

At the risk of sounding like a wise*ss.. If this dream - of all the dreams you have - is more important or significant to you in some way, I would suggest going to the library and simply take out a book and read up on it. You never know what you might find.

Maybe subconsciously this means that you want to help people out when they have troubles. Of course, I'm no expert.

your subconscious is you,the real you is the old man and the puppy is solution to the problem you have and that means you are gonna solve it if you look harder.
