yes, I am American and I am ashamed of my government...ALL of the time !

I was born in Leicester, England and immigrated with my parents at 9 yrs old in 1967, 40 years ago. We stepped into New York with only $50.00 in money. We didn't have an easy go of it for many-many years. My home-life was english with my Mum, Dad, brother and sister. I melded into American society within four or so years in school, traditions, friends etc.
I have always been proud of my heritage and probably say that for all of the "Briticans" in America. In alot of ways we "Briticans" have an advantage of knowing the truth's of both societies.

After a game of footie abroad, it s always the British that are seen to be fighting on the news. That make me cringe.....

I'm ashamed of being American because of the obesity epidemic, the lack of discipline with today's youth/lacksidaisical parenting, the overcommercialism of everything, and the obsession with exploiting people on reality TV.

when i'm in any restaurant, and i see the vast amount of food being thrown in the trash, that's an embarrassment.
i also watch some of the frivolous waste of time (speaking on trivial matters just as we do on P&S) that the new Congressional members spent in their "1st 100 hours in office" which purely disgusted me.
