Why did people and the media criticize Tyra Banks for gaining weight?

I mean, she still looks good and it's not like many of those people who write the tabloid and magazine articles are in great shape either, so who are they to criticize?

I was actually asking myself the same question.
Whats with all this crap about super skinny models, yet they criticize Tyra for putting on a couple pounds! It's not like she looks obese or something, she has a great figure! I guess we all have to come to terms with the fact that no matter how much everyone says they hate these super skinny girls, their always gonna choose them over someone with a couple extra pounds, which is rediculous. Tyra looks healthy! She looks great. Everyone else just needs to accept that she would rather look healthy as oposed to a starving skeleton.

First of all, as a die hard fan of ANTM tyra has NEVER critized anyone on their weight if anything tyra is always the one to get on the other judges cases when they mention one of the models weight to her and she will tell them that its people like them who make girls all over the world sick to get themselves skinny...but anyways, the answer to ur question is that people have nothing better to do in the media except critize other people. Good for tyra, she is beautiful to start out with but now she has shown everyone that u dont have to be rail thin to make it in this industry...tyra has accomplished so much, if not the most, that a supermodel has EVER accomplished and she has proved that she is not just a pretty face. So people feel the need to hate on that...but oh well

Because She gained a little weight (but healthy amount of weight). She has even said. When she started out as a super model she weighed around 120 lbs. But now that she's retired she wanted to gain a little weight so she could appear like the average woman. Personally, I think she's still smokin'.

Oh good lord. This is not the first time the media has acted stupid. It won't stop there. They shall continue. I love Tyra. She gives normal sized people a chance to look at a normal sized person on TV.

Some people like to laugh and make an issue when a pretty slim girl gains weight because they think it is now unattractive and want to make fun. They think it is now big news to 'everyone' but in reality she is fine with it if she gains a little and loses now that she's retired and I personally think that people really think she's more human now.

It was obviously a slow week. To tell you the truth I didn't even notice her weight gain. She's not modeling any more, can you imagine the years that she starved herself and watched what she ate. Let the girl live a little.

Because she's supposed to be a super model. Part of being a super model is being very skinny...She criticizes people on her reality if they do not look like supermodels...now the media is criticizing her...I like it.

I dont know i dont think she is huge or even big. I look up to her for being a little bigger than most celibrites.She is defenently a role model for any little girl,tennage girl,and any woman.
