well i dont dislike you guys, i love you guys, but there are a minority of Americans that let you guys down, with there arrogant and attitude that we own the world we are the most powerful nation in the world blah blah blah, and i can understand that because the American government and media make the American public think like this, there is nothing wrong with pride and patriotism but to do to undermine other nations is wrong that including a few more reasons is the reason why people dont like Americans, if you were say Australian or British or from Europe, you would understand how much people really laugh at Americans attitude, America thinks its invisible 9/11 proved its far from that, i dont blame your people, blame your government and media

The Americans they meet are travelers, and Americans abroad tend to be arrogant, needy, generally make no effort to learn the language, and are often completely ignorant of customs taken for granted in other countries. A lot of that has to do with the size of America. The average American just doesn't leave the country very often, so they're not experienced at navigating the culture of a foreign country.

My observation is some people should try to speak the local language and observe customs. I've seen Americans that were really loud when the rest of the room was quite. Acts of I'm better than you move out of my way doesn't go over too well. Also obnoxious acts makes the rest of the 20% of traveling Americans look bad. I said 20% because I heard that's how many of us have passports. The Euro and the Pound are worth more than our dollars, consider this power and control.

Because our government has a bad habit of bullying other countries.

Then there is the perception factor....I mean, 70% of our country is unhappy with Bush and many are embarrassed by him, so imagine how others view him and us for keeping him in the WhiteHouse?

And then there is the idea that most Americans believe we are the only country in the world that has got everything right.. Right Values, Right Religion, Right Government, Right Economic system.

It ain't true, but we do so like our delusions.

Maybe their jealous, maybe because America has so much power and control. Americans tends to stick their necks in other countries problems and affairs and perhaps that turns some people off. Some people might watch too much tv and think that all Americans are materialic, rich, greedy and stuck up.

Americans can come across as quite brash, loud and obnoxious. The general consensus that friends and others have shared with me is that Americans feel they are the centre of the universe and that your presidents (past, present and future) are not only the leaders in your country, but the whole of the world.

I really think it's because they all think that we Americans are spoiled and they think the majority are wealthy. I think if they knew what middle America was really like, they'd look at us a bit differently. A lot of cultures have 2 classes...rich or poor. We still have the middle class and that's what most of America is made up of.
