I would suggest LibraryThing--although you should know only the first 200 entries are free. Another one is AllConsuming.

For some things, the web site is a great help.

For other things, the simple computer alone, without the internet, is a wonderful took.

For still other things, the old paper and pencil not only work well, they are often more efficient. Or a card file system, where each individual card represents one item (like, say - oh I dunno - maybe a book read?)

In your case, perhaps your computer alone would do the job - An Excel file would handle it well, even a Word doc (as long as you don't want to sort and re-sort with too many categories.)

You certainly don't need a web site.

LibraryThing.com

You can keep track of the books you own, or the books you read, and many other things book-related. It's wonderful

You could do it in Microsoft Excel. Then you can keep track the way you want to (by author or just a list of titles with the authors name).

Why do you need a website? Why not a Word File or a written journal/commonplace book?

Couldn't find a website but you can probably post it yourself on like myspace or 360 or something. There is a program that generates reports but it is stand alone and you can probably import the reports into your site. Here is the program
