Not necessarily. It turns out short people are better at both short and long distance running.

While long legged individuals do have a longer stride, the advantage is usually lost by the additional weight that tall people carry. The best distance runners in the world are shorter with abnormally long legs and great lung capacity.

As you've already noted, sprinters tend to be short and muscular. This allows them quick starts and max acceleration.

If long leggged tall people do have a running niche, it's in the middle distances (800, 1500 meters) where the endurance isn't as critical, nor is the start and acceleration, but long strides are helpful.

There are guys who love tall and slim, others short and full bodied. There's no pleasing everyone, nor should you try! Be yourself. If you think your legs are too slender, where pants so they look fuller. With a top, use a belt to emphasize your shape. TO be shorter, and more "stable" wear flats. My girlfriend is 5' 10" and I love her dearly. But I'm in love with her personality most. The body is secondary. My last girlfriend was 5'3 and was wonderful. I wouldn't worry about your height, just be yourself! That's what guys like the most is a girl comfortable with herself!
