How do I stop a Google search re directing?

Question

When I click on a site link for a subject / topic in Google it too often re directs to some multi directory type page and not the weblink,until after returning via back << click then up to 3 attempts at the original search. How do I stop this so that I get to the chosen weblink first time? Is this malware /adware type problem?

you have been hijacked, my friend. Getting that out of your computer is like getting dog cr@p off your shoe.

The technical term is Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP)

google (if you can) for a program called Hijack This! - it can clean it. Also download Windows Defender, free from Microsoft, which can stop it happening again
