If you had to choose between:
A.) a very marketable and profitable career that you enjoyed
B.) a career that you were absolutely passionate about, but would make 1/3 as much money at most
Which would you choose and why?
Part II
The reason I am asking is because I am in this position now. I am a Software Engineer with 8 years of experience, and I am making a comfortable 6-digit salary. I like my job and I'm good at it, but it's not as dynamic and exciting as I would like it to be.
I have always had an incredible passion for cooking, so I thought it would be great to become a Professional Chef. I put myself through school working food service, and I am quite an accomplished cook. But, chefs have a very difficult time making what I would consider a comfortable salary and I would be starting at the bottom. I would still need culinary school also.
If you were in my position, what would you do, and why?

I would take money since most passions (arts, sports, etc.) can be practiced over the weekend....

I would continue working as a software engineer while putting yourself through school and banking as much cash as possible then I would go to pursue your passion. I love to cook and would do anything to go back 10 years and go to culinary school ( I recently returned to school to become a high school English teacher..long story). I would suggest that you do what your heart or you might regret it for the rest of your life.

A tough one!
Imagine it's your last day on earth and you're looking back at your life, which would you rather say you did?
Life may not be rosy as a chef, professional kitchens can be extremely stressful.
But hey, money aint everything.
