Just wondering....it's when he gets in the car with the kidnappers after the little girl goes back to her mother.

Obviously, the character's death was left to the imagination of those watching. But I'll tell you what I do think...I think the man was bleeding so heavily the whole time that he died on the way to where ever they were taking him. In my experience as a nurse. I know the body can lose only so much blood and he bled a long time. But as a writer of many story lines myself, I'll say that the way he was looking up at the sky told the viewers that he was physically going with the kidnappers, but spiritually going somewhere else.

I think that he was dying from wounds he had received. In any event I do not think the kidnappers would plan on letting him live after all the damage he had done to them. He was probably going to be tortured and then killed. He knew this too but he would be getting the little girl back and that was the redemption he was needing.

I would suggest looking this one up. It is based on a true story. Not only that, this movie was actually done in the 80s with I believe Scott Glenn and Joe Pesci. The idea in the film is that he dies in the car ride. I think that the producers softened the blow. In reality he was most likely brutally tortured.

He doesn't die. He gets in the car and kills everyone inside using his tied together hands and his teeth. He kicks one in the head and his head goes thru the back window, instantly snapping his neck. Then the car flips and Denzel crawls out and runs back to the girl. He then marries her mother and becomes her stepdad. But then 15 years later, he divorces the mother and marries the girl. After all, they are not related and he loves her.

I believe he trades himself for the girl. I think he knew he was dying anyway, he was bleeding really bad there at the end.

He was shot, never got it taken care of medically. Then as time went on and continous bleeding he finally died.
