I don't know about symptom of OCD, but I do smell the milk because I have bought milk in the past that was already sour and I drank it, thinking it was ok and it wasn't. So I always make sure it smells ok. =)

not a symptom of OCD but a sign of learning your lesson from trusting those stamps on the milk that on rare occasions have been wrong.
