Measure from your public line to the top of your belly, in inches. That should roughly be how many weeks along you are.

At the end of the day, it's your decision and all people can do is offer their opinion and experience in this situation. Personally, I wouldn't abort as I don't see Down's syndrome as a severe enough disability to justify it. In another two weeks, your baby is viable and stands a good chance of survival outside of the womb. Several babies have survived in neonatal intensive care units from 22 weeks gestation onwards. Whilst there are some health complications sometimes associated with the syndrome, a lot of Downs children live extremely happy lives. I've known several in my life and I can honestly say that they were a lot happier than most of the unaffected children I know. They are also very loving. My mum knows a Downs lady in her late twenties who is actually an actress and has her own home. I would suggest you talk to a counsellor before doing anything drastic as they are impartial and can offer some really good advice. In addition to this, you could go and see your doctor and find out what caring for a child with Downs actually involves. At the end of the day, this is still your baby. Abortion is not something to be taken lightly and can cause you permanent psychological damage. If you decide to continue with your pregnancy, whether it is difficult or not, you will adjust to having a child who needs a little extra care. I hope you manage to reach a decision that you are happy with and wish you all the best for the future.

Welcome to the club. I have a fibroid tumor in my uterus. To accomodate the baby and the tumor, my uterus is measuring much larger than normal. Sometimes bellies measure larger, sometimes smaller. I started showing at 4 weeks and looked HUGE because I'm very short. With first pregnancies your belly muscles aren't all stretched out yet, so you look smaller with the first than the subsequent pregnancies.
They can "date" your pregnancy with an ultrasound. Have you had one yet?? Was the fetus right on track for 32 weeks or 34-35 weeks?

I am sure that the doctor is using the standard formula for estimating your due date. Subtract 3 months and 7 days from the start of your last period and that's when the baby should be due. This is not an exact science as many women still have their menstrual cycle even after they become pregnant. It is certainly possible that you are further along. Just remember that your due date is an estimate only!

Trust your doctor, after all, if you can't trust him on something like this, should you really be seeing him and not someone you trust more?
I'm 31 weeks pregnant and only in the past few weeks have I started to show at all. Most people are surprized to find out I'm this far along.
It could be genetics, as it most likely is with me. My mother was small when she carried my brother, and huge when she carried me. It makes sense, as I'm having a boy, that I would carry my lil one as she carried my brother.

some women are bigger framed than others. Some women have bellies that stick out, others are broader. The doctors look at the stage of development the baby is at when looking at an ultrasound, not the size of the belly.

6lbs 9oz
5lbs 13 oz
and 6lbs 6oz
they are all super healthy. our 6 month old to this day has never been sick even though the cold and lfu has been in our home more than once! if the doctors are not concerned i wouldn't worry.\
congratulations and good luck.

I think that you should listen to the doctor and not worry about it as long as everthing is going well for you. Good luck with your baby!

Sometimes when you measure larger than expected it could be a wrong due date, or it could just be a large baby or too much amniotic fluid.

If you are tall and it is your first baby, your body would carry it small. Don't worry. You'll pop out soon enough!
