It's totally up to you. There is no standards of the size of spacer to the size of tile. The only thing is you do not want to go smaller than 3/32 if using sanded grout. In all a 1/4 inch grout joint seems to fit the tile size. Remember most tile edges are beveled which makes the grout joint seem larger near the surface. If this tile is marble or granite, use a penny, with unsanded grout. Allot of installers use finish nails, but a penny standing on end gives the right space, and is much easier to remove.

Hi
well let's make this simple lay a few tiles out in the room they are going in ( that is the best way to really see what they will look like when laid) and space them anyway that u want now this is up to u the bigger the space the more grout that u will see turn the tile in the room a lot of time it will look better on a diagonal its more work but look great in some room, don't just jump to the first one move them around a little u will be liveing with them for a long time so take a little time looking them over
good luck

there are several different sizes available, no really correct size. i would suggest you go to Lowe's or home depot lay out 4 18 x 18 tiles and try the different sizes to see which you like. the easiest to use have a small handle on top, they are suspended from the top...ie where they do not rest on the floor. this is good because it makes it easier to remove the spacers after. hope this is helpful.

Whatever you think looks good. the advantage to a wider grout line is that if the tiles are not perfectly level across the top, a wider grout line will hide that. A narrow grout line puts the tiles close together and thus any differences in height will show.

at leat 3/16" I think 1/4" is probably perfect. It may look big but then again you are using a big tile. once it is done it should come out good.

You can use what ever size looks good to you. But I would not go too thin or it will not look balanced. Maybe 1/3 inch.
