It has always intrigued me why so many people say they are not racist (and genuinely believe they are not) yet so few have partners of another race. If it's racist not to consider a black person for a job - if you're a white employer for instance - then why isn't it racist not to consider a black person as a life partner? I suppose my question really is, What is racism, how do you define it?

I believe that everyone is a product of their environment. If you live around people of your same race then of course your going to date within your race more then outside. And your naturally going to be more comfortable around those people because you are isolated from people of other groups. I don't think these people are racist just sheltered. I think the roots of most racism is isolation or separation from people of other races or cultures, because people then stereotype and make assumptions without really knowing the truth. And the truth is that everybody is pretty much the same, and differences in personality have nothing to do with skin color, but perhaps environment or culture.

I am Caucasian. My second husband was Native American. My first and third husbands were both white.
This is probably due to the fact of the area in which I live. Small rural communities in western and northern Wisconsin are not known for having diversity when it comes to races.

I have never had the chance to meet many African Americans, Asian Americans, Latin Americans, etc. I was raised in a racist family, but could never understand racism. It's just not logical.

So, I developed my own theories. Now I wouldn't care what color or race a person was. If they seemed like a loving, caring, open-minded person who wanted to have a relationship with me and loved me for who I am. It's what is in the heart that matters.

You've obviously never been to Birmingham in the UK,there are many whites and blacks married to each other, and i suspect they didn't get together because they thought Oh' i'll try a white or i wonder what a bit of blacks like, i'm sure its because they love each other.
Racism is non acceptance of other races/cultures where as some one in a heated row with another will cut to the cor and use derogatory words whether the person be black, asian, fat, ugly, ginger and so on,but isn't neccessarily a racist.

Racism is the discrimination or prejudice against someone based solely upon their race. I know of many instances where races have intermixed (i.e. white with black, white with Asian, black with Asian, etc.) successfully. Unfortunately, the opposite has also been the case. I do not think there is anything wrong with it except that it might add stress that could otherwise be avoided.

Racism is behavior, beliefs or expectations based on a person's race. If a person excludes another person from their dating pool solely or primarily because of race, he or she is a racist.

when i was a sophomore in high school my history teacher asked to see who had never been racist in their life...not one person raised their hand....and it is really hard to define..because you can also be racist to people of your very own race...but to me its just being close minded and making assumptions on other races that you really dont know about...

racism isnt defined properly when it implies u cannot be attracted to and support ur own race and be proud of it ... thats dead wrong ... racism is actively belittling and trying to put down another race ...

I really don't have your answer why but now a days is seems more and more children are biracial.
