Unless you have the proper equipment and expertise, DON'T do this yourself

This is really not a "do it yourself" kinda thing.

It is possible to cut some corners and cut some costs before taking it to the paint shop but even then, they may need to redo all you did.

Automotive paint is special, its not something you can buy at Walmart or Glidden. Last car I painted was 20 years ago and paint cost $50 a quart back then. Sanding and priming is a lot of hard work, the sandpaper is called wetsand and 400 grit is about as course as you want to get. The problem is the paining itself. You must paint the entire area that you wish to paint at one time, paint too heavy and plan on resanding, paint to light and the finish will be rough (plan on resanding). Then if you actually get the paint on right, your vehicle must sit in an airtight, dustfree space for many hours as it dries.... or you can plan on resanding again.

There are options other than spending $2K at the nissan shop. In many cities there are places that will paint your car for $300-500. You won't win any awards with their paintjobs, but if your looking to get your sentra all one color, or just a different color, the job they will do will be far, far better than someone who doesn't know what they are doing. (not to mention that about the second time you screw up the paint and have to resand, that $500 is looking pretty cheap)

Well you want to stick with the same color because a color change is very difficult.Go to the nearest automotive paint supply store and they will be more than helpful on telling you what you need to do as far as prep work and painting,it is too lengthy for this discussion.
